Decorating a Rental – A Gallery Wall&Other Stuff

May 14, 2015

We have lived in our Rental Home for 6 years, I have been itching for a change.   .
I’m a great critic, I have an opinion ready on how everyone else is styling their home, but Do I really know anything about decor? nah Do I really care?  uh yeah . There have been a few things that reside within me that I have been dying to make different.   But my attempts have always been a bit lame.

I don’t want me home to be a clone of somebody else s, I want it to be real life ya’ll – mine.

Enter Nita from The Gooses Bride, a homestager/interior enthusiast with a difference, she loves to incorporate people’s belongings and personality’s into rooms, she believes it adds a depth and authenticity that new can’t buy, it saves money and keeps recycling and reusing what’s already been made so well.  I have gotten to know her well and her passion for an Op Shop bargain is awe-inspiring.

Didn’t you hear –  reusing and recycling is the new black? totes on trend babes.

I was super stoked when Nita agreed to help me out with a Gallery Wall (or 2 or 4  heh) and of course I would do what people like me do, share about it here.  WOO. Lets do this.

Here’s a before picture – pretty much says it all.
The thing that took the most time to execute was framing pictures, which were a mixture of photos, gifts bought and  free printables.
DIY – Felt Ball garland – re-threaded by me, sourced by Nita – it was originally a necklace.

Blue Wire Basket from Kmart, Plants are Nitas own (Click here to see some that love neglect)

.

You can check out Nita on Instagram, and shop her wares – my personal faves are the potted vessels that I buy from her and then kill with love (must set the alarm telling myself NOT to water them)

Do you have any tips for me? Do you like my gallery wall?

Please share in the comments!

PS I REALLY REALLY REALLY LIKE KMART

Looks great Lisa! I’m one for personal style over simply being trendy – I love that your wall is BOTH! x

Looks fantastic! I have a soft spot for embroidery hoop art so that’s probably my favourite detail 🙂
